Da Kodak lancerede en ny type kamera i 1963 under navnet Instamatic, blev det nemt og billigt at tage billeder. I de følgende årtier fandt hverdagsfotografier af ferier, børn, højtider, biler og tv vej til fotoalbummets plastiklommer som aldrig før. I årevis fremkaldte og gemte man visuelle vidnesbyrd om livet i fotoalbum, som blev vist frem for familie og venner og senere generationer. When Kodak launched a new type of camera in 1963 under the name Instamatic, taking pictures became easy and cheap. In the following decades, everyday photographs of holidays, children, holidays, cars and television found their way into the plastic pockets of photo albums like never before. For years, people developed and stored visual evidence of life in photo albums, which were shown to family and friends and later generations. With the digitization of photography, this practice has changed radically, while we take more photos than ever before. Based on the family album, Mette Sandbye examines the role of photography in the everyday life of the middle class – from the emergence of the welfare society in the 1960s to the present day. Focusing on private photo albums, she focuses on what we have taken pictures of, how and why, and what these pictures can tell us today. Based on photos of everything from holidays to parties and family additions, Sandbye examines how our private photos shed new light on our shared everyday history.
